Every girl should look at sense of style as some sort of art because fashion IS art. You usually start with a blank canvas and work your way up with textures, color and accessories. Anyways, back to the point; your clothes should be a way to express YOURSELF because well no one likes seeing the same thing twice.
& please, girls, don't follow up with certain trends because you think it gives you a sense of 'cool' in this society. Do not label your style either because one just simply can't. Grunge, hipster, goth, boho, preppy, girly, etc etc will only take you so far but your own twist is what makes you and your style.
So, let's finally get into the ACTUAL post on how to establish your own sense of style:
1. Look at your closet and take out your favorite clothing items. As cliche as this may seem, let it speak to you. Seriously. Ask yourself: Why did you buy it? What attracted you to it? What's so special about that certain piece? What's so different about that piece from all the other clothes on the racks? Does it make you feel good about yourself?
2. Put together at least 3 of your favorite outfits and then pick your favorite aspect of the outfit and see if it recurs from outfit to outfit then you'll know what you like.
3. Make sure what you wear gives you a sense of comfort and confidence. Don't just wear it because everyone is and because you want to fit in. The fashion icons of our world aren't given the title of an 'icon' because they followed up with trends and wore what everyone was wearing. They were unique and so are you.
4. Last and certainly not least, I've made this blog to inspire you. To give you ideas and maybe some sense of direction, I'm not asking you to copy me and do as I say. I'm no fashion expert, I'm just a girl that has her way around my own sense of fashion and loves to experiment.
Now here are some quotes and tips from the experts to inspire you:
Ralph Lauren: "Breaking rules is what makes clothes interesting. I love mixing fabrics and shapes in unexpected ways - classic with modern, rugged with elegant."
John Galliano: "Glamour today is confidence, independence, not giving a damn, going for it and indulging your desires - in fashion, life and living."
Donatella Versace: "The most valuable item in your wardrobe is not a piece of clothing; it is an accessory. With a quick switch of a handbag or a pair of shoes, you can instantly change your look and mood."
Heidi Klum: "Wear something you feel gorgeous in and don't try too hard; it's much sexier when it appears effortless. Clothes that don't fit, or don't fit the wearer's personality, don't help."
I hope you this post helped you and encouraged you to be yourself.
